A very focused and thematic collection of music, A Woman's Voice: First Person Singular features either songs written by female songwriters or written from a female perspective. This is refreshing, particularly because so much of popular music centers on the male perspective -- even songs by female performers and songwriters. It's also worth noting that all the performers are British and most practice a style of folk music, either traditional or contemporary. Some of the featured performers include Julie Murphy, Oliver Knight, Maddy Prior, June Tabor, Cilla Fisher, and many more. ~ Jason Birchmeier
