The majestic THIEVING MAGPIE, a two-CD live set from 1988, acts as a sort of parting of the ways for symphonic prog-rock group Marillion and its notorious lead singer, Fish. The Peter Gabriel-esque lead singer, who ever had an undercurrent of ferocity in his melodious voice, left the heralded band on a high note. This tour guide of sorts explains the power of Fish in his element, as the vocals soar and dive to a whisper, echoing the magnificent rises and falls of the keyboard-driven hardest-of-rocking units.
