Get set to laugh it up when the silver screen's most popular comedy duo leave a small town and head to the big city hoping to experience the high life in this Martin and Lewis fan favourite. The fun begins when hapless Homer Flagg (Lewis) learns from his physician, Dr. Harris (Martin), that he's dying from radiation poisoning. When a New York newspaper reporter (Janet Leigh) hears of Homer's plight, she decides to do a series of articles on the unfortunate New Mexico man. Before she heads west, however, Harris informs Homer that the diagnosis is a mistake. But that doesn't stop them for accepting the reporter's offer for a swanky trip to Manhattan, where the two attempt to keep up the pretence in this side-splitting comedy of errors.

Living it Up is about a young man Homer Flagg (Jerry Lewis) who is misdiagnosed by his doctor (Dean Martin) as having a fatal illness. A New York reporter Wally Cook (Janet Leigh) cashes in on the story by flying to the down and offering Homer a chance the see the Big Apple. It is at this point that Martin's character admits is mis-diagnosis to Lewis, but the two take up the trip anyway. The film is based on the 1937 Carole Lombard-Fredric March film Nothing Sacred. Between the two films there are some differences. In the original, Homer is actually Hazel Flagg (played by Lombard), while March takes on the shoes of Wally Cook. Furthermore, the doctor doesn't figure as much in the original, with the role expanding in the remake to accomodate Dean Martin into the film. Living it Up is a nice mid-50s comedy that features some great physical comedy from Lewis, some fine tunes sung by Martin and great support by Janet Leigh. The result is frolicking fun and mayhem.
