Life is hard for Father Ted. Banished to windswept Craggy Island (for reasons which never quite become clear, but might have something to do with missing Church funds), he is forced to share a house with three of the most difficult people in Ireland. Father Jack has not been sober since 1936.

His vocabulary consists of three words, only two of them printable. Father Dougal is young, innocent and almost inconceivably stupid. He once conducted a christening and the subsequent explosion destroyed the church. Mrs Doyle, the housekeeper, has one sole purpose in life to supply the priests with cups of tea, usually against their will. The island is populated by many eccentrics and its only place of interest is The Holy Stone of Clonrichert, which is basically a small rock on a pedestal. Father Ted first broadcast in 1995 and has gone onto become a classic cult comedy around the world. Starring: Dermot Morgan, Ardal O'Hanlon, Frank Kelly, Pauline McLynn Contains all 24 episodes of the cult comedy show, plus the Christmas Special and loads of extras.

Father Ted is an absolute cult classic and has a huge fan base and is thought of as the best Irish TV production. The content of the show broke new ground and pushed a lot of boundaries and opended doors for a lot of popular comedians like Graham Norton and Ed Byrne. The characters are brilliant, and the episode plots often bizzare, such as the 'Sheep of the Year' contest that was rigged and the island's priest population lost in the largest lingere section in Ireland. Timeless comedy and a great laugh. i will be watching this again and again.

Comedy classic right up there with Open All Hours and Last of the Summer Wine - it was such a shock that Dermot Morgan (father ted crilly) passed away 24 hours after the last programme was taped of a heart attack at the young age of 46. Even though it has re run on Prime TV several times it is in a class of its own - Graham Norton got noticed playing a hyper-hyperactive priest (perfectly cast), it seems that every actor was perfectly cast for the character they played and just fit each role. I cannot imagine anyone else playing drunk, Father Jack who drank Toilet Duck when deprived of his favourite tipple. Or Ardle O'Hanlon who just seemed so easy playing Father Dougal who is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Well worth buying as a boxed set and great value.

I really like Father Ted, I have a thing for English Comedy and feel this is one of the better English comedies I feel that Ardal O'Hanlon, who plays Father Dougal McGuire, is one of the funniest men in Britain, He is also hilarious in 'My Hero'

Bought it because it was on special and I usually like British Comedy, but not really my sense of humour.
