Former model and television presenter Patrice Newell was born in Adelaide and now lives in Gundy, New South Wales with her broadcaster partner, Phillip Adams and their daughter, Aurora. She is the author of The Olive Grove, the bestselling account of her biodynamic beef and olive farm. Her book The River was published to critical acclaim in 2003.
