Antone R.E. Pierucci, the curator of Lake County Museums, brings together disparate sources and photographs to explore education in 19th and early 20th century Lake County. Pierucci is uniquely situated to speak on this subject since one of the museums he directs is the Lower Lake Schoolhouse Museum, which is housed in the 1877 Lower Lake Grammar School.
One-room schoolhouses, were a common means of educating rural children at the turn of the century. On the North Coast few of those structures remain. Local historian, and curator of Lake County Museums, Tony Pierucci, has written Lake County Schoolhouses, "a book that explores the history of those schools." Press Democrat
