Reviews

K-Gr 1-While the cover art is Urbanovic's and features Max the duck from her popular picture-book series, the text and internal illustrations in this easy reader are by other creators. In this story, Irene leaves him in charge with a list of chores. However, Max has spring fever and that translates into mixing up all of her requests. He sweeps the lawn, plants the laundry, and mails the salad. While he has his head in the clouds, Coco the cat and Bebe the bird follow him around, putting everything to rights. This fun story has just enough text to highlight the illustrations and will appeal to youngsters. First readers will welcome familiar Max and giggle at his mix-ups, and they will probably not notice the slightly different art.-Susan Lissim, Dwight School, New York City (c) Copyright 2012.
