About the Author

After having a successful career managing large organizations and traveling and living all over the world, Pat McCarty retired first to Oregon, then to New Mexico, and finally to Austin, Texas, where she currently resides with her family.

As a young child, Pat lived with her grandparents and as a young woman, Pat visited her grandmother's home and would often listen to stories of her adventurous life and experiences. Floy: An Irish Family Tale was written from hours spent discussing their family history-their early marriage, relocation in the West, the tumult existing in a large family, and what her journey toward womanhood was like in the early 1900s. McCarty was fortunate to have shared a close relationship with Floy until her passing in the 1980s.

In her free time, Pat enjoys reading, genealogy research, volunteering, and her wonderful family. Pat's fervent hope is that she will be remembered as a woman with spirit, just as Floy is remembered.
