Reviews

It is almost impossible to single out one album from this remarkable comic book series, but Legionary comes closest to perfection. A masterclass in comedy to read again and again

Why oh why did the Romans ever accept Gauls into their army?! Well, they got a whole lot more than they bargined for I can promise you that! I actually ended up feeling very sorry for the Gauls training master who they reduce to tears on a number of occasions. Somehow they manage to gat accepted, trained and deployed in record time; but who can blame the poor guy for pulling a few strings- really!

Asterix and Obelix as legionaries? Joining the enemy? Working for good ol Julius Caesar? Not likely! You’ll need to read the comic to get the details but needless to say the adventures continue with fights, feasts and ruckus galore! It’s a multi-cultural adventure too with lots of hilarious jokes and misdemeanors! Loved it!

This is FUNNY!! This is the 10th adventure of Asterix & Obelix, published in French in 1967 (& into English in 1970). Obelix fancies Panacea, but she's in love with Tragicomix, who is conscripted into the Roman legions. Our intrepid duo go after him to rescue him, joining the legion (a spoof on the French Foreign Legion). Their unit is a hilarious league of nations, including a Goth, a Briton, a Belgian, a Greek and an Egyptian who is under the illusion that he's on holiday! They wind up heading to Africa to fight Scipio... Hard case, that's for sure...
